As a wedding photographer shooting bridal preparation wedding photography is one of my favourite parts of a wedding day. There is a palpable tension and excitement in the air that’s invariably offset with a bottle or two of Prosecco, a little music and for sure lots of giggles and good times!
Bridal Preparation Wedding Photography
Bridal preparation wedding photography is a great addition to the wedding day and offers an extra dimension for your wedding photographs and make for great memories to look back on in the years to come.
From hair, make up and first off glimpses of a bride in her wedding dress it’s a great part of the day to be part of and I always feel privileged to photograph that part.
It’s perfect for a wedding photographer as it creates a mini bond with a bride along with other friends (and Moms of the Bride) there who are bridesmaids and/or maids of honour for the day. It gives me the chance to meet some of the major players in a wedding day and they can become accustomed to me as well.
As a potential bride even though the nerves are kicking in, having photographs of make up being put on and hair being done makes for great memories.
Bridal preparation wedding photography for me is all about staying out of the way, letting the ladies in the room be comfortable with me there (very often I’m the only male in the room) and finding those memories of you getting ready. I’m also on the lookout for opportunities to photograph those small details which make up the day. Flowers, shoes, jewellery all make up part of those details.
It’s also great for me as I can build a rapport with a bride and as I’m with you for the whole of your day – and usually quite close in attendance to you it helps to break the ice and make it easier to get the photographs you want.
Of course modesty is important and there are times when stepping out of the room is prudent. But it’s not just all about the people in the room, there’s always plenty to photograph such as a ladies make up bag, getting your make up done and those calming times when you’re having hair done.
After the day has been done, there are so many moments that pass a bride and groom by and being able to capture moments such as bridal preparation adds to the reminders of the day.
If you’re considering getting married and unsure about bridal preparation wedding photography I’d definitely recommend it. It’s inclusive in my full day wedding package, you can find out more about what I cover throughout your wedding day here.
